HEALTH & WELLNESS INTERN (PAID)

Job Description:

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to jumpstart your Public Health, Exercise Science, Public Administration, Marketing, or Project Management career? This internship will be packed full of hands on immersion to learn, develop, and jumpstart your career once you graduate with your degree! You will be working right alongside our Wellness team to assist them with ongoing projects for the City!

The purpose of the Employee Health & Wellness Intern position is to assist the Department of Human Resources with the development, communications, and planning for the operation and implementation of programs, events, and services provided by the Renew Employee Wellness Program which include the 8 Dimensions of Wellness (emotional, intellectual, physical, environmental, social, financial, occupational, and spiritual). Day to day, you will be assisting project staff with health education programming in various departments within the City. You will assist with various health education research and distribution. This internship will help you experience the inner workings of a very successful employee wellness program and help to understand its contribution to the health and wellness of City Government employees. You will become familiar with the relationship the wellness program has with various divisions within the Department of Human Resources including Safety, Benefits, and Worker’s Compensation.

The rate of pay for this internship will range from $11-$15 per hour depending on your course completion, previous work history, and other qualifications. You will work about 15-25 hours per week.

This is a paid internship. This internship will run for approximately 10-14 weeks. Students currently enrolled in Human Resources, Public Health, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Therapy, Health Care Management, Administration, Public Relations, Marketing, Business Administration, Marketing, and Project Management or related degree program would see the most value out of this internship. Rising juniors and seniors will be top candidates for this opportunity, as your courses studied should provide you with a solid foundation for this program! This internship will require knowledge of Microsoft Suite, Zoom, Facebook, and Instagram. You will need to be able to create and enter data into spreadsheets, create social media campaigns, and launch virtual meetings.
