Job Description:
The Harrisonburg Fire Department (HFD) is seeking individuals desiring a challenging career in public service to become HFD Firefighters! No prior certification or training as a firefighter or EMT is required to apply.
Candidates who apply may be considered for future vacancies within a six-month time period after the advertisement closing date.
HFD operates in a team environment with a mission to enhance the quality of life for the community by protecting their health, safety and welfare through fire suppression, emergency medical services, prevention and public education.
Applicants who do not meet the qualifications for the Firefighter I level may be considered for hiring within the department at an annual rate commensurate with applicant qualifications.
Applicants are encouraged to apply for this position, regardless of the advertisement start date, as candidates not selected during this initial process may be considered for future vacancies within a six-month time period after the advertisement closing date.
