Fire Medic
Job Description:
Prince George County Fire and EMS is currently seeking applicants for the position of Fire Medic. This position will be responsible for responding to emergency calls; providing basic and advanced life support emergency medical services; assisting in the suppression of fires; preparing and maintaining detailed records. Non-certified applicants will be required, as a condition of employment, to obtain all required certifications as listed below within twelve months of employment.
To be eligible for this position, candidates must possess education equivalent to graduation from high school (Associates Degree preferred) supplemented by required firefighting and emergency medical training.
Pre-employment physical/drug testing and comprehensive criminal and financial background check, to include fingerprinting, required. Applicants will be required to submit a current DMV record at the applicant’s expense.
Possession of an appropriate driver’s license valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Must possess and maintain CPR, NIMS, ICS, EVOC S-3, EMT-Basic (ALS preferred), State Certified Firefighter II and Haz-Mat Operations (DPO and Instructor I preferred). Must meet and maintain all departmental requirements for the position within twelve months of hire date.
