Fire/EMS Advanced – Paramedic
This position is responsible for emergency medical service work responding to a variety of injuries, illnesses, fire prevention and fire suppression.
Nationally Registered or Virginia Advance to Paramedic certification, ICS 700, 100, 200 and 800, an approved emergency vehicle operators course level 2 and/or 3, ACLS, PALS and a valid Virginia Driver’s License.
Additional Qualifications preferred; Department of Fire Programs Firefighter I and/or II Haz Mat Operations.
*Special note- Special consideration is given to EMS providers without firefighter certifications. These candidates, if hired, would be provided this training during their employment with the City, but would NOT be required to obtain them.

Starting salary will depend on certification – FT range $44,405 (Advanced) $47,500 (Intermediate)- $49,755 (Paramedic). Education assistance available for EMS advanced classes and additional compensation for approved Fire/EMS certifications.
