The Financial Analyst will be responsible for serving as a member of the Fiscal Management team as we develop our strategy for the future of business operations in Bedford County.
Examples of key responsibilities include:
You will use your accounting skills by performing and/or managing a variety of accounting functions, such as
accounts payable, capital asset records, general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, payroll, account reconciliations,
and purchasing card reconciliations.
You will improve services to the community by providing counsel and advice to county departments on a variety
of financial questions and performing research and analyses as required to do so.
You will ensure transparency and accountability by assisting in the preparation of regular and special financial
reports, including monthly financial reports, the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR), and the Auditor
of Public Accounts Comparative Cost Report.
You will help us map the community’s investments and strategies by assisting the Director of Fiscal Management
and County Administrator with the budget development process, including securing and analyzing justification
for departmental expenditures, preparing revenue projections, and working with departments on financial issues
such as budget transfers and justifications.
You will keep up with the latest professional standards by implementing new accounting pronouncements.
You will help others grow and improve by supervising and evaluating staff in your assigned area, including selection
recommendations, training, assigning work and reviewing/analyzing performance.
