Executive Director

Job Description:

The Amherst County Service Authority (ACSA) Board of Directors is seeking a motivated and visionary individual to serve as the Director of Public Utilities. The ACSA has a twenty-seven person staff who address the public water and wastewater needs of Amherst County. The position plans, coordinates and oversees all activities, services and the day-to-day operations of the ACSA and formulates, communicates and implements the intermediate and long-term objectives of the Board.

A Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Sanitary Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience equal to ten years of supervisory experience involving utility management is required. Experience in the design, construction, operation and maintenance of public utilities will set the competitive candidate apart. A high degree of maturity and integrity in conducting business affairs and a positive attitude to effectively lead employees and engage with the public, customers, contractors, vendors, media, and local government and agency officials is integral to success in the position. Registration as a Professional Engineer in Virginia or licensure as a Class 2 Water Works Operator by the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR) Board of Waterworks and Wastewater Works Operators is required.
