Equipment Operator I
Performs difficult semi-skilled work in service, maintenance and/or repair of gravity and force main sanitary sewer lines. Assists in the unstopping of sanitary sewer mainlines and service laterals. Operates a single axle dump truck and other light to medium duty equipment
Performs routine semi-skilled work in the variety of construction, repairs, maintenance assignments, and manual labor. Assists in the installation, repair, and maintenance of water service lines, which consists of tapping water mains and boring under roadways. Upgrades/replaces meter boxes and locate underground utilities. Tasks also include the relocation, renewing, discontinuance and reconnecting of water service lines.
Responsible for maintenance of streets and roads, grounds, water and sewer facilities, and related maintenance tasks. Performs routine water valve and hydrant maintenance; emergency water main, valve, and hydrant repair; semi-annual flushing program; leak study; system tests; installation of new distribution systems; maintenance and service of equipment; and street and concrete replacement.
Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of, and/or outside of, their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Emergency operations support work and work locations may be outside of normal job duties.
Requires completion of 10th grade in high school. High school diploma, GED or specialized vocational training is preferred.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
Requires a valid driver’s license and a driving record that is in compliance with City Driving Standards Depending upon department requirements, a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire, is also required.
In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standard, this position requires a minimum of three months of related, full-time equivalent experience.

Requires a Class A CDL with tank endorsement within six months of hire. An in-house CDL training program is provided.
