The City of New Carrollton is looking for a full-time Equipment Operator to join our Public Works Department. This position is under the direct supervision of the Infrastructure Maintenance Supervisor. The ideal candidate must be a team player with a “can-do” attitude who works well with others. The Equipment Operator must have the ability to lead a team, as this position may oversee the completion of various projects in the absence of the Infrastructure Maintenance Supervisor.
Work assignments for this position are primarily outdoors within the city limits. The employee will be exposed to dirt, dust, debris, chemicals, and foul odors. This individual may be called in for various off-hour emergencies and weather-related activities. A valid Class B Commercial Driver’s and one (1) year of experience operating heavy equipment such as a dump truck, loader and/or a backhoe is required. Must have a clean driving record for a minimum of (12) consecutive months. Hourly rate starts at $19.55; however, pay commensurate with experience.
