Engineer III-Development and Permits
Chesapeake Development & Permits department is seeking an Engineer III to facilitate effective site development.
A successful candidate for this position will be able to do the following:
Perform review of roadway & complex drainage, grading and E&S control.
o Reviews and approves development plans to ensure code compliance for public facilities, drainage, stormwater management for site development.
o Researches and analyzes engineering data in order to prepare and update plans and correspondence
Assist design consultants and developers through the development process.
o Serves as City representative, coordinating development project implementation in a timely manner (accuracy %).
o Lead interdepartmental meetings with design consultants and developers, finding creative solutions to issues and diverging viewpoints.
o De-conflict comments between departments before review is sent to design consultant.
o Facilitates a comprehensive review of complex development plans, identifying and compiling applicable requirements and ensuring requirements are appropriately reflected on plans.
o Identify obstacles the developer may encounter during construction or near project completion that might delay activation and final inspection. Notify appropriate staff and developer.
Be able to review EPA SWMM (Storm Water Management Model) drainage analysis and operate SWMM software.
o Ability to review Stormwater plans.
o Design consultants use EPA SWMM software almost exclusively for large development projects. A successful candidate will already possess proficient knowledge of the modeling software or be able to attain proficiency within six (6) months of hire.
