Applicants who do not meet the qualifications for the Engineer level may be considered for another level within the department at an annual rate commensurate with applicant qualifications.
As an Engineer with Community Development, you’ll perform a variety of duties involved in the review, design, construction, inspection, and maintenance of City projects, such as reviewing engineered comprehensive site plans, ensuring compliance with multiple land development ordinances and regulations, and coordinating work with other agencies and departments. Serving as the project design/inspection engineer and manager of engineering and construction-related projects, you’ll inspect projects for conformance to construction plans and specifications, provide technical assistance to a diverse group of internal and external customers, administer design and construction contracts, and design and prepare specifications, schedules, and cost estimates for projects. As this role is vital to the success of the department and City as a whole, you’ll prepare a variety of technical reports and give presentations on them, assist with the acquisition of properties for public use, prepare and maintain engineering files and records, and assist with the preparation and monitoring of the division’s budget.
