Division Director – Solid Waste
Under limited supervision, the position provides general administrative and operational oversight of the County’s Solid Waste programs. Work includes overall personnel management, budget development and oversight, program development and control, strategic planning, regulatory compliance, and project management as related to the overall management, operation, construction and maintenance of public solid waste infrastructure, refuse management, litter control, solid waste fleet services and weed/debris abatement. Employee must exercise considerable initiative and independent judgment in all phases of work. Employees must also exercise tact and courtesy in contact with public officials, developer, contractors, and the general public.
Minimum Training & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in environmental sciences, geology, engineering, construction, or related field with five (5) to seven (7) years of related experience with supervisory duties or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
Virginia Solid Waste Facility Operator Class II License obtained within 12 months of employment.
