Director of Public Works – Holly Springs, NC
The Director of Public Works will be a key person in the Town’s leadership team. The Director of Public Works is appointed by the Town Manager and is responsible for the various divisions of the Department. After a recent reorganization, the Department is responsible for Solid Waste (Garbage, Recycling and Yard Waste) Facilities, Fleet and Streets and Sidewalk Maintenance. Holly Springs is a full-service city with approximately 340 full time employees and 36 in Public Works. The adopted FY2021 budget for the Department is slightly over $6 million.
The next Director will be part of the town’s senior leadership team. Preferred Candidate qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, engineering or related field is required. A Master’s degree and/or a designation as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) is preferred.
Ten years increasingly responsible executive level experience preferably leading a large, complex local government public works operation.
Extensive knowledge of budgeting and finance, preferably in the municipal sector with the ability to identify areas for efficiency and collaboration, including a strong knowledge of capital project planning and interpreting data for optimum service delivery.
Excellent at communicating effectively both orally and in writing, with the ability to listen as well as explain information and related plans and programs to policy makers and the public that is easily understood by all stakeholders.
