Director of Public Works
Job Description:
The Town of Chincoteague is accepting applications for a qualified, experienced full-time Public Works Director. The essential function of the position is to plan, direct and coordinate all public works functions including road maintenance, storm drainage, equipment maintenance, solid waste collection and disposal, water supply and distribution. The position works under the direct supervision of the Town Manager. Other duties include;
Prepare and manage departmental budgets;
Prepare and implement the Town’s capital improvement plan;
Prepare bid packages for construction and support service contracts;
Provide technical and administrative support as required;
Manage assigned personnel;
Attend committee and council meetings as required.
Candidates must have excellent communication and organizational skills, be self-motivated and have ability to work in a team environment. This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Public Administration or a closely related field, or comparable work experience. It also requires a valid Virginia Driver’s License. The Town of Chincoteague provides excellent benefits.
