The Town of Abingdon is a full-service municipality that operates under the Council/Manager form of government. There are five members of Town Council including the Mayor. The organization has over 150 employees with FY2021 budget of $24 million. The Town places a high priority on civic engagement and offers a variety of ways for citizens to interact and participate.
The Director of Public Works will be a key person in the Town’s leadership team. The Director of Public Works is appointed by the Town Manager and is responsible for the various divisions of the Department. The Department offers a full range of services including: Streets and Solid Waste, Parks and Grounds, Facilities Maintenance, and Administration. In total, the Department has 42 full time employees with an adopted FY2021 budget of $3.5 million.
