Job Description:
General Description
The Director of Planning and Community Development provides the overall administration and management of the activities of town planning and community development. This includes developing long-range goals for the Town and developing policy and position papers and negotiating with the Town Manager, Deputy Town Manager and/or elected officials. The Director of Planning and Community Development routinely participates in advanced, highly complex professional planning activities. Position works with minor supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences. The position reports directly to the Deputy Town Manager and serves at the pleasure of the Town Manager.

Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in urban planning or related field from an accredited college or
Five (5) years of increasingly responsible planning experience in a municipality or other government environment
Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, public or business administration, architecture, sociology, or a closely related field.
An equivalent combination of training and experience (approved by the Town Manager) may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the position.
Special Certifications and Licenses
Valid State driver’s license.
Miscellaneous Requirements
Must pass a Criminal Background Check.
