Director of Information Technology

Job Description:

Montgomery County has an opening for Director of Information Technology (IT). As a member of the County’s Leadership Team, the Director of IT is responsible for operation of County information systems and staff including Applications Team, Cybersecurity, Tech Support, System Engineering, and more. As a working supervisor, the Director establishes departmental goals and objectives and aligns staff in support of County organizational goals, plans for growth of infrastructure and architecture, assists with the design of operating processes, oversees system operations and ensures optimal system performance, and strives to continuously improve the performance, efficiency and security of information systems. Position also works closely with affiliate agencies to support separate systems, plus regional utility providers and other local government peers.

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field plus ten years related experience and demonstrated managerial skills; previous experience in local government environment preferred. Ideal candidate will proactively engage with staff and peers to foster a team environment, conduct root cause analysis to identify and address issues quickly and efficiently; analyze current systems and methodologies for improvement, and anticipate technology growth and future needs.
