DIRECTOR OF HUMAN SERVICES
Job Description:
This position directs the Human Services Division, and is responsible for overview of all human service programs available to County citizens through private, local, regional, state, and federal resources. Duties include overseeing the administration of the Children’s Services Act (CSA); consulting with Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court judges on services needed to reduce out of community placements with the CSA; overseeing a process of compliance monitoring to ensure all CSA cases are in compliance with state and local policies; monitoring and forecasting CSA expenditures and reimbursements; participates in state, regional and local CSA work groups; functions as CPMT Chair; directs and supervises the Volunteer Montgomery team; oversees VJCCCA funding; serves as the County’s designated representative on the New River Community Action Board of Directors, Fairview Home Board of Directors, NRV Juvenile Detention Home Board of Directors, Montgomery County Drug Court, Behavioral Health Docket and Opioid Abatement Team; prepares annual division budget requests; and performs general administrative tasks.
Successful candidates must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills; comprehensive working knowledge of Children’s Services Act, the court system, non-profit agencies and related federal and state regulations; ability to work well with a variety of customers including county officials, department directors, and the public; strong computer skills and the ability to analyze data and prepare reports.
Position requires a bachelor’s degree in human services or a closely related field, a Master’s Degree is preferred; eight (8) years of related experience in a human services setting, with at least five (5) years being at a management level. Requires experience with the Children’s Services Act, the court system and related services, and funding. Salary range $71,836-118,529, commensurate with experience.
