Director of Finance
Job Description:
The Town of Herndon is a suburban town in Northern Virginia with a population of approximately 24,000 people. The town is close to Dulles International Airport, located in Fairfax County, with large city projects, such as Metrorail, yet striving to keep a small town feel. We are in search of a Director of Finance, responsible for providing leadership, direction, technical expertise and supervision of the town’s financial affairs. This position reports to the Town Manager, and serves as a member of the town’s Management Team comprised of the Town Manager, Town Attorney, Town Clerk, Assistant to the Town Manager and all departments. Attends and presents at Town Council meetings as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
– Bachelors’ degree in business administration, public administration, accounting or finance required; supplemented by master’s level
coursework in the field
– Supplemented by minimum of six years’ experience including governmental, financial management with a minimum of five years’ supervisory
experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
– Possession of Certified Public Accountant designation required
– Valid driver’s license with acceptable record
