Director of Community Development

Job Description:

The Town of Farmville is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Director of Community Development.

This position will perform complex professional and administrative work to oversee planning & zoning, surveying, building inspections, GIS, Farmville Area Bus, and Farmville Regional Airport. The Director of Community Development will coordinate, organize, direct, and integrate the Town’s planning and building programs and services, and is responsible for ensuring community compliance with building and zoning regulations. This position will also oversee multiple boards and commissions and provide oversight of the Town’s long-range planning and current planning processes. Extensive leeway is granted for the exercise of independent judgment and initiative. This position will supervise the Town Planner, Building Inspector, and other administrative staff.

Qualified candidates will have a minimum of five (5) years of experience as a planner/zoning administrator and some experience in economic development. A bachelor’s Degree in a related field. Certifications from the American Institute of Certified Planners (ACIP) Certification and Certified Zoning Administrator designation preferred.

The salary for this position is dependent upon qualifications. Please send your salary requirements with your resume and town application for consideration.
