Diesel Mechanic II
The purpose of this class within the organization is to repair and maintain diesel transit buses and equipment. This class works under close to general supervision according to set procedures but determines how or when to complete tasks. The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class, as necessary. Essential functions for this position include but are not limited to Repairs and maintains buses and paratransit vans, Orders and stocks parts ensuring purchasing guidelines are met, Maintains a sufficient level of parts in the department, Monitors vendors and determines if repairs should be outsourced, Works an on-call for after hour emergencies; makes emergency road repairs, Repairs and maintains fare-box and systems, Ensures buses are ready for daily runs, Assists maintenance technicians as needed, Diagnoses bus multiplexing systems and Conducts shop meetings to ensure procedures are followed.
