The Lead Custodian is responsible for performing custodial and manual work in the care and cleaning of City facilities. This position is responsible for maintaining and protecting our facilities! Day to day, you would be performing a variety of cleaning tasks to ensure City facilities are maintained and kept tidy. This will include dusting or polishing chairs, desks, tables, shelves and other furniture. You could also be vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, waxing or buffering floors. Our custodian team is responsible for collecting and disposing of trash on a daily basis, and tidying furniture as needed.
As a Custodian, you will also clean and restock bathroom supplies. Increased sanitizing measures have become a critical part of this role, so it will be important to ensure the facilities surfaces are frequently washed and wiped clean. There are a variety of equipment and cleaning solutions used in this position, so a basic knowledge of cleaning methods will come in handy!
Time management and the ability to develop relationships will be great skills to have in this position, as you will encounter other employees and need to manage your time while cleaning throughout the City buildings. Safety is our top priority for all employees, so you will need to have a basic knowledge of cleaning methods associated with hazardous chemicals and common cleaning equipment.
As a Custodian, Lead within the General Services department, you will have exposure to the department as a whole, working on a variety of projects, and exposure to other departments when working out in the field and in City facilities. What are the qualifications for this position?
This position requires 3-5 years of related custodial experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Lead worker or supervisory experience is preferred.
