CREW SUPERVISOR C (DISTRIBUTION DIVISION) WATERWORKS
Job Description:
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES Under general supervision, this position is responsible for overall management of work crews that perform installation and repair of water pipelines and other components of the water distribution system. Reports to the Water Distribution Operations Coordinator or the Water Distribution Superintendent.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Schedules, supervises and oversees several crews of skilled workers performing installation and repair of water pipelines and other components of the water distribution system; identifies and resolves operating difficulties; ensures materials and supplies are available; coordinates requests for emergency or unscheduled work; inspects work to ensure conformance with instructions and regulations including the American Waterworks Association (AWWA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Standards, Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) regulations as well as city and departmental policies and procedures. Performs administrative work to include compiling and maintaining attendance and production records. Responsible for the effective supervision and administration of several crews including preparation of reports, performance management, employee relations, prioritizing and assigning work and related activities. Ensures the safety of City equipment, private property, and others by following proper safety procedures, watching for overhead utility lines, and checking for traffic and underground utilities; performs routine checks and preventive maintenance on equipment; identifies and reports equipment malfunctions; cleans equipment as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.
