Cleveland County is conducting a national search for an experienced, highly skilled servant leader with a “can-do” spirit, eager to contribute their creative and insightful experience to help shape the future of this very well-run, unique, and special County as the next County Manager. This at-will position will serve as administrative head of the County Government to direct and supervise the administration of all County offices, service areas, and agencies under the general control and direction of the Board of Commissioners. There are 28 operational departments in the organization which are supported by approximately 800 full-time employees. The general fund budget is approximately $125m and the County supports one enterprise fund (solid waste).
Experience: The County Manager will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in governmental management, policy, and procedure; including thorough knowledge of State law governing County administration.
Education: Requires a Master’s degree from an accredited university in public administration, business administration, management, or a related field and extensive experience working with local governments; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Licenses and Certifications: Credentialed Manager through the International City/County Manager Association (ICMA) is preferred but not required.
Residency Requirement: The County Manager will be required to live in Cleveland County.
