Culpeper County (population: 54,000) is seeking a seasoned, well-rounded, innovative, and responsive legal professional to serve as the full-time County Attorney. The Culpeper County Attorney is the chief legal officer and counsel to the County’s Board of Supervisors, departments, and various committees, boards, and commissions, including but not limited to the Culpeper County Economic Development Authority and the Culpeper Human Services Board. Acts as the County’s Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) officer.
Appointed, and supervised by the Board of Supervisors, the successful candidate should be able to deal effectively with public officials, work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure, possess excellent oral and written communication skills, and perform and deliver a variety of
legal services related to a diverse range of local government legal matters, including legislative drafting, compliance, code enforcement litigation, risk management, planning and zoning, and procurement.
The successful candidate must be a graduate of an accredited law school, a current member of the Virginia State Bar in good standing, and experienced in Virginia local government law. Salary shall be competitive and commensurate with qualifications.
