Community Based Youth Counselor

Job Description:

Application Deadline: Open Until Filled

The preferred hiring range is between $19.42 and $24.79 an hour. Starting offer is based on applicable education, experience, and internal equity. This is a grant-funded non-exempt Full-Time position. The position also provides excellent benefits including 13 paid holidays, paid vacation and sick leave, health insurance options with employer contribution, employer-paid life insurance, City’s retirement options, gym membership reimbursement, and continuing education/training opportunities.

Youth Counselor positions provides direct services to children and/or families which includes but is not limited to: individual, group, and family counseling, skill-building, and other therapeutic and case management services. Does related work as required. Primarily and most frequently the work done here is under general supervision, with related functional areas and more advanced applications.

Minimum Requirements:
-Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Minimally, a high school diploma or GED plus four years of highly relevant experience may be substituted as equivalent.
-Minimum of one year of experience working in the field of human services.
-Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia or qualified and able to obtain a valid VA driver’s license prior to beginning the position.
