The City of Chesapeake’s Department of Information Technology IT Enterprise Operations Unit is searching for an IT Communications Engineer to join our Network Communications Team focusing on Audio Visual and Telecommunications technologies. This position is a technical position. The IT Communication Engineer will be a “hands on the equipment” team member that supports communications engineering across the City. This position will be responsible for audio-visual communication and telecommunications platforms to include conference room technologies, video, interactive conference room displays, digital signage, cell phone, telephony solutions, mobile device management and vendor engagement. The IT Communications Engineer will be a resident POC/SME per audio visual platform and mobile device management engineering efforts for the City of Chesapeake DIT as concepts mature through implementation while also supporting the current operating solution. This position supports the coordination of and delivery of audio visual communications engineering, as well as cell phone operational support services to include conference room displays, interactive boards, digital signage, cell phone services, video solutions, asset inventories, request for new audio visual and/or cell phone services and in the IT workflow processes. There may be occasional lifting up to 35 pounds including activities such as moving files and small equipment. This is a hands-on the keyboard/technical position. There may be on-call activities in this role.
The IT Communications Engineer will have experience with audio visual communication and telecommunications platforms to include conference room technologies, video, interactive conference room displays, digital signage, cell phone telephony solutions, vendor engagement and IT operational support within the audio, visual and cell phone arenas.
