Chief Information Officer
The City of Chesapeake is seeking a customer-focused Chief Information Officer who will develop an IT strategic plan, continue modernizing the City’s IT systems, and oversee the Chesapeake Connects fiber project. The City desires a CIO that can move the department into a more strategic business model to support the priorities of the City and improve service delivery to internal and external customers.
Minimum requirements include any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, management information systems, business administration, or a closely related field. A minimum of six years of full-time equivalent experience with responsibilities in the management and support of information systems and technology is also required.
Preferred qualifications include leadership of an IT staff team, demonstrated experience with improving customer service, upgrading key systems, addressing cybersecurity in a complex environment with multiple lines of business, supporting a digital workforce, and developing a culture of service and partnership with departments. Local government IT experience is preferred but not required.
Compensation and Benefits
The expected hiring range is $170,000 – $190,000, depending on qualifications, with an excellent benefits package. There is no residency requirement, but the City will provide relocation assistance for out-of-area candidates as part of the overall compensation package.
