Job Description:
The Town of Charlotte Court House is searching for its first Town Manager position. The position offers a training ground for someone wanting to advance their career or a slower-paced atmosphere for the seasoned person looking for the perfect stop later in their career. The position serves at the pleasure of Town Council. Under direction, establishes, maintains and/or directs all activities pertaining to records management, bookkeeping and administrative support activities for the Charlotte Court House Town Council. The new position is expected to build a solid working relationship with the Mayor and Council members. The Manager should be committed to an open and transparent government, fostering direct communication, a collaborative working environment, and the highest level of customer service. The Manager will collaborate with town officials to implement strategies and procedures for the good of the town. The ideal candidate should possess the highest ethical standards while being a strong leader that effectively solves challenges, welcomes accountability, and creates a positive work climate.
The full-time Town Manager position is 32 hours per week. A benefits and compensation package will be negotiated, with the inclusion of Town paid health insurance (if desired) for a total value of up to $60,000. The office is open 4 days per week with the position being eligible for some telework as agreed upon by the Council.
Preferred qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, finance, or a similar field, with four (4) years of executive-level experience, preferably in local government, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Previous experience as a town manager, assistant manager, finance director in local government, or a Master of Public Administration (MPA) is a plus. Other job assets including knowledge of government operations, excellent written and verbal communications skills, and financial expertise. Computer literacy in Word, Excel, accounting software systems are a benefit.
