Bus Driver – Transit (Transit Bus Operator)

Job Description:

Do you want a part-time job that has meaning and provides a service that directly impacts the local community? If so, consider applying to the City of Harrisonburg’s Bus Driver – Transit (Transit Bus Operator) position! This position allows employees to utilize their driving and customer service skills to help ensure transit bus passengers arrive to their appropriate locations in a safe manner while receiving exceptional customer service.

The Bus Driver – Transit (Transit Bus Operator) is a part-time position (no benefits) and a preferred hiring rate of $16.12 per hour for candidates without a CDL and $16.62 per hour for candidates who currently possess a valid CDL with the required endorsements for this position.

The Bus Driver – Transit (Transit Bus Operator):
– Drives a transit bus;
– Picks up and delivers passengers;
– Collects and accounts for fares;
– Operates a bus on designated route per a daily schedule;
– Operates a two-way radio and reports unusual traffic conditions, passenger emergencies or other problems;
– Operates mobility device lifts and secures mobility devices;
– Obeys all traffic laws and observes mandatory safety regulations for transit operations to ensure passenger safety.
