Building Maintenance Mechanic II or III

Job Description:

Application Deadline: Open Until Filled

This position may be filled as a Building Maintenance Mechanic II or as a Building Maintenance Mechanic III depending on qualifications.

The preferred hiring range for a Building Maintenance Mechanic II or III is between $16.20 – $23.60 Hourly ($33,696.00 – $49,088.00). Starting offer is based on applicable education, experience, and internal equity. This is a full-time, non-exempt, position which provides excellent benefits including 13 paid holidays, paid vacation and sick leave, health insurance options with employer contribution, employer-paid life insurance, City’s retirement options, gym membership reimbursement, and continuing education/training opportunities.

Building Maintenance Mechanic II Minimum Qualifications:
-Completion of high school, vocational school or GED required;
-A minimum of 2 years experience as an Electrician or HVAC Technician is required.
-A valid Virginia driver’s license is required. (To view our driving eligibility requirements, visit https://www.charlottesville.gov/faq.aspx?qid=166)
-Satisfactory health condition in order to meet the physical requirements of the job.
-Completion of a vocational training program in the Electrical/HVAC trade with demonstrated ability in servicing, maintaining and repairing mechanical equipment is strongly preferred.

Building Maintenance Mechanic III Minimum Qualifications:
-Completion of high school, vocational school or GED required.
-Extensive experience as a HVAC technician or Electrician, supplemented by course work in the field also required.
-Completion of a vocational training program in the HVAC or Electrical trade with demonstrated ability in servicing, maintaining and repairing mechanical equipment is required.
-A Master license in HVAC or Electrical is required OR a minimum 4 years experience as a HVAC Technician or as an Electrician.

-Depending on placement, requires EPA Refrigerant Certification by employment start date.
-Satisfactory health condition in order to meet the physical requirements of the job.
