Athletic Program Coordinator

Job Description:

The City of Radford is seeking a full-time Athletic Program Coordinator in our Recreation Department. The successful candidate will perform intermediate paraprofessional and responsible administrative work planning, organizing and directing athletic programs and activities. The Athletic Program Coordinator will plan, organize and direct a variety of indoor and outdoor athletic events and team sports for all age groups, prepare team lists and game schedules, assign coaches to teams and assign officials to work games. The Athletic Program Coordinator will ensure proper use of equipment and facilities; order athletic equipment and uniforms; inventory athletic equipment and ensure proper maintenance and storage; oversee tournaments; establish procedures with respect to scheduling, registration of participants, payment of game officials, safety and insurance and ensure compliance with established policies and procedures. The Athletic Program Coordinator will develop the budget for the athletic program and oversee expenditures. This position reports to the Director of Parks and Recreation, acts as director in the absence of latter and supervises the Gymnasium Athletic Supervisor. The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Parks and Recreation or a related field along with 3 – 5 years of experience in community or group recreation activities. Starting salary $40,307. The City offers an excellent benefit package that includes enrollment in VRS and 100% employer paid insurance for employee only coverage with no deductible, free life insurance along with generous paid time off. Successful completion of pre-employment testing and background check are a must.
