Athletic Field Maintenance Worker
Prince George County Parks and Recreation is seeking qualified applicants for a part-time temporary Athletic Field Maintenance Worker to be responsible for maintaining playing fields, equipment and facilities. This position will work an average of 29 hours per week approximately 10 months out of the year. Starting Hourly Wage: $14.00
Typical work task would include:
Mows grass, edges sidewalks and curbs, trims shrubs; rakes leaves;
Cleans restrooms; empties trash cans and picks up litter;
Maintains fluids in truck, tractors and mowers;
Receives, unloads and delivers supplies and material;
Plants fertilizers and grass seed;
Grades parking lot and moves parking bumpers;
Performs minor plumbing, electrical and carpentry tasks;
Greases and performs minor maintenance on equipment;
Prepares athletic fields for playing; marks lines; cuts grass, applies clay and soil; aerates fields; moves bleachers;
Assists with snow removal and ice control;
Performs related tasks as required.
Must have previous experience maintaining athletic fields, experience with zero-turn mowers, weedeaters and tractors and knowledge of turf development and maintenance. Must possess any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and some experience in the performance of maintenance and repair work.
Pre-employment drug testing and criminal background check, to include fingerprinting, required as well as possession of an appropriate driver’s license valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
