The Fauquier County Attorney’s Office is seeking qualified applicants for an Assistant County Attorney. Just 40 miles west of Washington, D.C., nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains at the southern edge of Northern Virginia, Fauquier County is a growing community with a population of just under 73,000. The County Attorney’s Office’s mission is to provide legal representation and advice to the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors, Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, and all other boards, commissions, departments, local Constitutional officers and employees regarding legal issues relative to conducting County business. We supervise the legal affairs of the County, represent the County in legal matters, bring lawsuits necessary to be instituted by the County, defend the County in court proceedings brought against it, and handle appellate litigation to which the County is a party.
The Assistant County Attorney assists the Senior Assistant County Attorney, Deputy County Attorney or County Attorney in providing a wide range of legal services. Duties include but are not limited to assistance with drafting and review of contracts, ordinances, resolutions and other legal documents; preparation of court pleadings, briefs and other documents related to litigation of cases before administrative agencies, state and federal courts; and legal research.
