Assistant County Attorney
Frederick County seeks a full-time Assistant County Attorney. Essential functions of the position include rendering general advice on County legal matters, preparing proposed ordinances, representing the County in litigation matters, including tax collection matters and misdemeanor proceedings involving County Code violations, reviewing/advising on land use actions, preparing, reviewing, and advising on contracts, monitoring and advising on proposed federal/state legislation, attending meetings of and advising County boards, commissions, and agencies, and performing related tasks involving the County’s legal affairs. The position requires a Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school and two or more years practice experience, with admission to practice or ability to gain admission to practice in Virginia within 6 months of employment.
Employment is contingent on successful completion of criminal background check.
The starting salary will depend on the qualifications of the successful applicant.
