ASBESTOS TECHNICIAN, SENIOR

Job Description:

Are you looking for an opportunity to serve your local community? Would you like to use investigating and inspection skills to make an impact? Look no further to become a super sleuth!

The Senior Asbestos Technician with our General Services Department is responsible for performing inspections for the presence of asbestos, lead paint and poor air quality in City buildings. Day to day, you would be inspecting properties, monitoring demolition projects, and investigating for asbestos, mold, lead based materials to detect air-borne contaminates, skin irritants, toxins, and environmentally hazardous materials. Air quality and bulk sampling tests will be a part of your daily responsibilities, as well.

If you thrive by moving around, this position works in the field moving between various building locations and project sites. In addition to environmental investigations, this position is also responsible for responding to water leaks, mechanical problems, installing computer lines and phone cables, assisting with renovations to HVAC and electrical repairs in asbestos environments, as needed.

Some paperwork is required to prepare detailed reports assessment documentation, Incident reports, inspection logs, files for asbestos and lead testing. Surveys completed in all City owned buildings and leased facilities will need to be maintained for documentation purposes. Time management and communication skills, as well as general knowledge of safety procedures and environmental inspection methods will be essential in this position.

As an Asbestos Technician within the General Services department, you will work on a variety of projects, and gain exposure to other City departments when working out in the field and in City facilities.
