Administrative Assistant For Planning & Zoning
The Administrative Assistant for Planning performs skilled clerical work and a variety of office assistance tasks. Works closely with the public to provide customer service on planning related issues. Work is performed under general supervision of the Director or Planning. This position also lends occasional administrative support to the Finance Department, Human Resources Department, and Fire Department.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Requires general knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, equipment and administrative techniques; general knowledge of proper grammar, business English, spelling and arithmetic; general knowledge of departmental programs and policies; ability to type and transcribe dictation accurately at a reasonable rate of speed; ability to make arithmetical calculations; ability to operate standard office, word processing and data entry equipment and software; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and general public; and, ability to follow oral and written instructions; knowledge of principles and practices of research and data collection; Ability to work with limited supervision.
Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school supplemented by college level courses in typing and administrative/secretary experience. College, or other advanced degrees, preferred. Experience in taking minutes of official meetings preferred.
