What would a typical day on the job be like — what work would I do?

Day to day, you will be preparing and maintaining complex financial reports and statements in the City’s Financial Accounting System. Once the reports are compiled is prepared, a critical task for this position is to research, analyze and interpret the data. Accounts receivables, payable and fixed assets will need to be monitored and reviewed for accuracy, along with account codes and transaction data. The City utilizes MUNIS as the main Accounting System, which will be utilized to process expenditures, revenue, and budget amendment requests.
In addition to the daily functions of this position, you would also assist with the development and updating of accounting systems and preparing various financial reports and statements. There will be some research and analysis required to compile annual budget data and other specialized financial reports. This position will have the opportunity to administer and monitor developer’s water extension agreements and state highway projects in correlation with the Waterworks Department. External and internal auditors may also need financial statements and records to be compiled for audits.
How much money can I make?
The salary range for this position is $49K-$85k, and is competitive based on qualifications and experience. In addition to salary, the City offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to meet all of our employee’s needs!

What are the qualifications for this position?
This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Management, Finance or a related field with course work equivalent to a major concentration in accounting and 3-5 years of related accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
