Help remove local redistricting commission requirement from HJ615
Most cities and towns in Virginia hold nonpartisan elections. VML is concerned that the proposed constitutional amendment HJ615 would introduce partisanship into otherwise nonpartisan electoral processes.
Based on data from the Virginia Department of Elections, we anticipate that 16 cities and nine towns with district-based council and/or school board elections would be impacted by HJ615 in its current form.
Action
We urge you to call your Senators to ask them to remove the language around local redistricting commissions from this resolution.
