Awards & Scholarships
The VML Innovation Awards recognize the accomplishments of member local governments for innovative problem-solving, excellence in management, increasing citizen participation and striving toward higher service levels.
VML’s “If I Were Mayor” essay contest provides students the opportunity to reflect on the important role of elected officials in their own city or town. The essays describe what the student would do as mayor to make their cities and towns great places to live.
Administered by the Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service and the Virginia Municipal League, the Wallerstein Scholarship provides support to an exceptional individual for a period of one year for the purpose of undertaking research that would benefit Virginia local government.
