The stats reinforce this feeling – in 2023, there were close to 41,000 people who passed away due to a traffic crash; 1,100 of whom were children. Our mission is to change this both for our children and for everyone on the roads: pedestrians, bicyclists, and other drivers.

Obvio builds state-of-the-art AI-powered cameras to help keep our children safe on the roads. Our cameras have the ability to instantly detect all sorts of unsafe driving behaviors (stop sign running, failure to yield to pedestrians, using cell phones while driving, speeding) and roadway context (pedestrians & bicycle counts). Our products use real-time detection to change driver behaviors. We use message boards to educate drivers in real-time and also offer automated ticketing systems for enforcement. Since we launched our product, we’ve detected over a million unsafe traffic events, consistently demonstrating a reduction in traffic violations by over 60%.  

The founding team has a long history of building AI camera technology, with a specific emphasis on traffic safety. Prior to founding Obvio, the team spent years building traffic safety AI cameras for Motive Technologies, a $3.5 billion company in the trucking space. We deployed over 150,000 cameras across commercial trucks, helping reduce traffic accidents in vehicles by over 15%. We were responsible for leading a team of over 300 people, with a business representing over $100m revenue per year. Obvio co-founder & CEO also previously worked at Google, helping invent novel technology in the Virtual Reality space, and other team members have contributed to state of the art products and AI research at companies such as Apple, Meta (Facebook), and Nvidia.
