Conferences
Conference BadgeThe league sponsors an annual conference that includes general sessions featuring nationally-known speakers, an array of workshops on topics of current interest, the adoption of the league's legislative program for the upcoming year and the election of league officers. The league also sponsors a conference for newly elected officials in July of even-numbered years following May municipal elections. The league co-sponsors a Legislative Day at the midpoint of General Assembly sessions. Finally, other conferences and workshops on current topics such as complying with sexual harassment laws, the telecommunications act and the business, professional and occupational license tax are held as issues arise.

Local officials brave elements to lobby legislators at Capitol

About 350 local government officials managed to brave the aftermath of wicked winter weather and make their way to Richmond on Thursday for VML-VACo Legislative Day.  Participants were briefed on the status of legislation of interest to local governments before making their way to Capitol Square to lobby their delegates and senators.
